THE PROTO OMEGA STRATEGY

This strategy must be read and confirmed by every member going on the Proto-Omega run. Confirmation is to be made by posting at the bottom of this thread, this will make you ELIGIBLE to come on the Proto-Omega run.

Basically i am not going to be re-explaining the strategy of how were going to do this to individual members, this is where you will be referred to if you have any questions.

THE STRATEGY

The setup i have proposed is on a previous thread but this is shown below anyway just to save you looking (please ignore the names next to the jobs, this is just to illustrate how things go).

Prerequisites to go on the Proto-Omega Run

All mages and /NIN's must bring Echo Drops

All Tanks and DD'd must have a Sword levelled to start off with Spirits Within (300%TP - via sleeping potions / Opo).

Everyone must bring some form of Reraise because there will be no time to raise you in the vital parts of this battle.

Everyone bring Food. This is a 30min limbus and most foods last for at least this length so only one food is needed.


The General Points

This is an overview of the points that are vital in this battle in terms of knowledge.

Proto-Omega begins on 4 Legs. He will be susceptible to Magic Damge, and be quite resistant to Physical damage.

He will switch to 2 Legs and vice/versa every 2/3 minutes. On 2 legs he is quite resistant to magic, and susceptible to melee damage.

Proto-Omega is very dangerous when on 2 legs, he does some very nasty AoE's which do high damage to everyone. He also does a paralyze move which can really mess up the mages.

Proto-Omega has a Final form which happens at exactly 25%HP. In this mode he is a complete and utter pussy because he can only do two TP moves, one is a conal attack, and the other is a single target hit which knocks the target down to 5%HP and pushes the target well away.

THE BIG RULE: Absolutely noone should be stood behind Proto-Omega when on 4 legs, or 2 legs. HOWEVER - All melee SHOULD be stood behind Omega on the final form.

How the Battle will go down

Everyone will TP up and buff outside before we even enter, this IS carried into the arena like all other limbus runs.

The three Paladins which i assume will be played by the above members must sub ninja for this fight. Why? Becuase to put it simply, PLD/WAR does not work at all in this battle, Omega hits far too hard and the cure's required to keep you alive will put the White mage in danger.

The Start of the Battle

So, the PLD's aswell as the melee will open up with Spirits Within at 300%TP. This is done for the following reasons:

1- It generates a LOT of hate onto the melee and tanks, this will allow the BLM's to take full advantage of a free nuke without stealing hate.
2- It will knock Proto-Omega immediately down to 80-85%HP with no effort at all.

One of the Bards (I will make the BRD aware of who this is) will sub Black Mage and open up the Battle with - Elemental Seal / Troubadour / Carnage Elegy. This will stick 50% slow on Proto-Omega which will make the battle a hell of a lot easier.

I am being a bit too specific here, but one of the RDM's with Merited abilities can do all the enfeebles, Paralyze II is a godsend.

If you are a BLM on this run, once the Spirits Within have been used, toss an immediate Tier IV Nuke, this will probably bring him down to 70%HP with hate still on the tanks.

KEY KEY KEY - Magic Burst Strategy

This is the key part of the battle which makes the whole thing a lot easier and less painful than it needs to be.

A Designated Light Skillchain - which will be made very aware before we start will be carried out, almost immediately after the Tier IV nukes have gone off.

Hit this with an Elemental Seal - Burst II. If all four BLM's get this right, this will knock Omega down to about 50%.

Once this happens, you can bet your bottom dollar that Omega will not be very happy with the Black Mages. This is where the first Paladin must hit his 2hr and pull hate off the Black Mages. At this point the Black Mages shoudl NOT feel compelled to nuke further.

If you are a MELEE, give EXTRA CARE to watch out for the Light skillchain. Do not interrupt this skillchain - this is not an Artuhgan TP burn party and if you do interrupt it due to complete negligence you will be warned.

When Omega Switches Stances

Proto-Omega will momentarily after the above be due to switch stances to 2 legs (his dangerous mode). This is where the battle is won or lost and the following must be read VERY VERY CAREFULLY!!

The Gunpod

When Omega switches, he releases a gunpod (a small globe type monster) and thsi thing really dows hit hard. The black mages MUST be prepared to nuke this down, it takes 2 Tier IV nukes to destroy it.

BLM's you just have to be brave and nuke it ASAP, dont wait for someone else to nuke it you just have to do it because if this thing is let loose it can one hit kill people.

The RDM/DRK

One of the RDM's will come as RDM/DRK. We do have a couple in the linkshell. When you see Omega switching stances to 2 legs, you hit your 2hr and start stunning it.

You must do this immediately because if he starts doing TP moves it can be extremely bad news for the success of the run. The RDM/DRK does play a big role here and he/she must have faith and keep the stunning going.

This has in my previous linkshell resulted in hate being stolen. This is where the 2nd PLD will hit his/her 2hr (this will be designated before the run).

The Melee

You simply have one task, get Proto-Omega to 25% or less, as soon as possible. This is where all your TP built up on the 4 legged version can be unleashed. It doesnt matter how you do it, just get him below 25%.


Once Proto-Omega Reaches 25%

This is the final complication in this battle. You dont need to look out for anything, just look at the HP% bar. Once he hits 25% that is the moment the following must occur.


Melee

Run and stand BEHIND Proto-Omega. You wont get hit this way. However dont go stealing hate off the PLD's let them keep hate.

BLM's

Another Gunpod is ejected at 25%. Same strategy, be brave and nuke it down.

PLD's

Here is where you play your role and show how good you can work as a team. You need to hold Omega and keep hate focused on you. There will be another PLD's 2hr to use at your discretion.


Between 1%-20%HP

ANOTHER KEY RULE - We are not to kill Proto-Omega without the "Kill Order" given. The kill order will be given by myself. Proto-Omega will be held by the tanks.

Once at about 10%HP the Melee will disengage from Proto-Omega and their task is:

1. To await the kill order.
2. Kill the gunpods that are spawned, take the responsibility off the Black Mages for this one.

Finally

I dont expect everything to go absolutely spot on, but the key rules must be followed. I appreciate this is the first time the linkshell has done this, but please read "Your Job Role" and make sure you are aware of WHAT YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR!.
